The story behind bulletproof coffee comes from Dave Asprey, who got the idea after trying yak butter tea in Tibet. The idea behind it is that by adding butter to your coffee—first thing in the morning—it gives you a boost of energy. And while these claims haven't been proven, people who drink bulletproof coffee swear by it.

This recipe is really simple. It comes from Wellness Mama. First we're gonna start by adding one cup of freshly brewed organic coffee, and into this, we're gonna add a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil. Get those nice healthy fats in there. And then a teaspoon of grass-fed butter. Now, we're using grass-fed butter because it has healthy omega-3 fats, and it's also gonna give the coffee a nice creamy flavor. And a teaspoon of vanilla for flavor.

Now I'm just gonna add all of these to a food processor, or blender, and I'm actually removing some hot water that I put in the food processor—just to keep that coffee warm.

Oh my goodness! Look at the color on this coffee. And then you're just gonna pour it into your mug. You have that nice brown color, that little head of foam. Ooh, I cannot wait to try it. Um...this is such a creamy latte. I can certainly see why people that drink this are hooked. You have the nice bit of foam at the top. It's creamy, it's buttery, and after I drink a cup of this, I was definitely full afterwards.
