At the beginning of every class, I ask one student in my classroom to give me the date. And more often than not, there's mistakes. Mm-hmm. So, we're gonna have a look at the most common way to write and say the date, and we'll also have a look at how Americans do it because it's a little bit different.
在每堂課的一開始，我會請班上一位同學告訴我日期。大多時候會有錯誤。是的。因此我們要來看看最常見的日期寫法和唸法，另外我們也會看一下美國人是怎麼表達的，因為那有一點點不同。
So, this is how you write the date: You first write the number, the month, comma, and the year. The year is used for more formal situations. You can skip the year. But, as you can see, there are no prepositions. Okay? Don't use prepositions as you write. You should say "the twelfth of June, two thousand and seventeen." So, as we pronounce, as we say the date, we add "the" and we add "of." Be careful—don't write it, though.
那麼，日期的寫法是像這樣：你先寫出數字、月份加上逗號，然後是年份。年份用於較正式的情況下。你可以省略掉年份。不過如你所見，這其中並沒有介係詞。沒問題嗎？在書寫的時候不要加介係詞。你應該唸 the 12th of June, 2017(2017 年 6 月 12 日)。在我們發音、唸出日期時，我們加上 the 和 of。注意－－寫的時候則不用。
Now, Americans do it a little bit differently because they put the month first. So, this is what a date written in American English would look like. As you can see, we start with the month, then we have the day, comma, and finally, you add the year. How do you pronounce that? Well, you would say "October the twelfth, two thousand and seventeen."
美國人的做法有點不一樣，因為他們會先寫出月份。因此美式英文的日期寫出來會長這樣。你能看到，我們從月份開始寫，接著是日期和逗號，最後加上年份。那你要怎麼唸呢？嗯，你會說 October the 12th, 2017(2017 年 10 月 12 日)。
This is also going to have an impact on how you write the shorter version of the date, the one that only includes numbers. So, here is how you would write it in British English: You would have first 12, slash, 06 for June, slash, and then you have two options—either 2017 or you just write the last two digits, 17.
這還會影響簡短日期的寫法，只有數字的那種版本。英式英文的寫法是這樣：你會先寫出 12，再加上斜線，06 代表 6 月，然後斜線，接著你有兩種選擇－－寫下 2017，或是只寫出後兩位數，也就是 17。
Now, for American English, that's gonna be different. We're going to start with the month first. So it would be 6 or 06, slash, then the day, 12, slash; again, you can choose to write the last two digit or the full year, 17 or 2017.
美式英文的話，那會有些差異。我們先從月份開始寫。因此那會是 6 或 06，接著是斜線，然後是日期 12 和斜線；再一次，你可以選擇寫下後兩位數或完整年份，也就是 17 或 2017。
