There once was a time, in the heart of New York City's East Village, a man by the name of John Kiehl opened his very own pharmacy. Customers would visit from near and far just to sample his newest remedies.

By the 1920s, Kiehl's apprentice Doc Morse was taking unique formulations to new heights. Doc traveled the world in search of herbs and other natural ingredients to enhance the products Kiehl's was known for, and customers noticed.

In 1961, Doc's son Aaron rode in and took over. Aaron would go on to formulate such classics as Creme de Corps, Blue Herbal, and Lip Balm #1, customer favorites to this day. He infused Kiehl's with a spirit of adventure and a spirit of the times, and with his new assistant, Mr. Bones, would distribute free samples to all who loved the brand. Like Aaron, his daughter Jami inherited his commitment to personalized service and giving back to the communities in which we serve.
