How to Tip
Hi, I'm Faye de Muyshondt with Socialsklz, here to talk with you about tipping basics. Tipping is what you do for the service that you receive, in a restaurant, for example. So what you're gonna wanna do as a rule of thumb is for excellent service, you're gonna wanna offer approximately 18 to 20 percent; for average service, you're gonna wanna offer 15 percent; for very poor service, you might wanna offer a lower percentage, for example, 10 percent.
The tipping is based on the service that you get, once again. It has nothing to do with the food. It has to do with whether or not your food came out in a timely fashion. It has to do with whether or not your server was attentive to your needs. If you're not great with math, what you can do is easily take the tax on your restaurant bill and double the tax. It's an easy way to leave a tip if you're not great at doing math.
So often, we go into big shops and all different types of stores these days where there's a basket that says "tips please." Now, how do you know whether or not you should leave a tip? Again, keep in mind that tipping is for an excellent job done in terms of service. A tip jar or tip basket does not require your standard 15 to 20 percent tip. A better rule of thumb for a tip jar, for example, is leaving the change that you have left over from a tab. So, for example, if your tab is $3.60, you might wanna leave the 40 cents change. If you felt like it was a job well done, you might wanna leave a dollar in the basket. But a tip is not required in a setting like that.
So, that's just a little bit more information on tipping basics.

It has nothing to do with the food.
Keep In Mind
Again, keep in mind that tipping is for an excellent job done in terms of service.
