So, Bob, we're talking about personal pronouns in English. Now, when a pronoun is the subject of a sentence in English, we use "I," "you," "he," "she," "it," "we," or "they." But when it is the object of a verb, we use "me," "you," "him," "her," "it," "us," and "them." For example, "They gave us some chocolates, and we gave them some cake." Or "I'll lend him my jacket if he'll lend me his jeans."
Bob,我們這個問題討論的是英文中的人稱代名詞。如果有個代名詞是英文句子的主詞,我們會用「I(我)」、「you(你 / 你們)」、「he(他)」、「she(她)」、「it(它 / 牠)」、「we(我們)」、「they(他們)」。但如果這個代名詞是動詞的受詞,我們會用「me(我)」、「you(你 / 你們)」、「him(他)」、「her(她)」、「it(它 / 牠)」、「us(我們)」、「them(他們)」。例如:「他們給我們一些巧克力,我們給他們一些蛋糕。」或者是「如果他借我他的牛仔褲的話,我就會借他我的夾克。」
Now, whether we use "you and I" or "you and me" depends upon whether we're talking about the subject of a sentence or the object of a verb. So, as subjects, we could say, "You and I should work together on this project." Or in the third person, "She and I are going on a date tonight."
我們該用「you and I」或是「you and me」其實取決於是在談論「句子的主詞」或是「動詞的受詞」。當作主詞的時候,我們可以這樣說:「你跟我應該一起做這個專案。」或者第三人稱:「她和我今晚要去約會。」
But as objects of the verb, we could say, "They only selected you and me for a second interview out of all the candidates." Or in the third person, "They wouldn't listen to her and me when we argued against their idea."
但如果是當作動詞的受詞,我們會說:「在所有人選當中,他們只選了我跟你參加第二次面試。」或用第三人稱:「我們反對他們的意見時,他們聽不進我和她的話。」
Now, in informal English, people still use "you and me" as the subjects of a sentence even though it's known to be wrong. And this has led to some confusion between "you and I" as subjects and "you and me" as objects. But I've just explained it to you, so you won't make the same mistake, will you? And of course, don't forget that "you and I" is "we, " and "you and me" is "us." So, if you're ever confused, just use "we" or "us." Easy!
在非正式英文中,大家很常用「you and me」當作句子的主詞,即使我們都知道是錯的。所以,在區別主詞「you and I」和受詞「you and me」時,就容易造成一些困惑。但我現在跟你解釋啦,所以你不會再用錯了,對嗎?當然,別忘了「you and I」就代表「we」,「you and me」就代表「us」。如果你有搞混過,就直接用「we」跟「us」就好囉。簡單吧!
Thank you very much for your question, Bob. They're both correct, and I hope that clarified the difference for you.
