Hi, everyone! I'm Nick Shepherd. Welcome to Two Minute English. This is about "do," "does," and "did," and asking questions.
嗨大家!我是 Nick Shepherd。歡迎收看《兩分鐘英文》。這堂是關於 do、does 還有 did,以及問問題。
This is Ryan. He's painting a picture. In the sentence "He is painting," there are two verbs: the main verb "painting" and the auxiliary verb "is." To ask a question, we change the order of "he" and "is" like this: "Is he painting a picture?" or, if you like, "What is he doing?"
這是 Ryan。他正在畫圖。在 He is painting(他正在畫)這個句子中,有兩個動詞:主動詞 painting(畫)以及助動詞 is。要造問句,我們會將 he(他)和 is 的順序像這樣改變:Is he painting a picture?(他在畫圖嗎?)或者,如果你想要的話,What is he doing?(他在做什麼?)
And here are two more examples: "Sue will leave at six." And the question: "Will Sue leave at six?" And another one: "We are leaving tomorrow." And the question: "Are we leaving tomorrow?" There are always two verbs, and we use the first one to ask the question.
這裡還有兩個例子:Sue will leave at six.(Sue 會在六點離開)。問句是:Will Sue leave at six?(Sue 會在六點離開嗎?)還有另一個:We are leaving tomorrow.(我們明天離開。)而問句是:Are we leaving tomorrow?(我們明天離開嗎?)句子裡總是有兩個動詞,而我們用第一個動詞來問問題。
But now look at these sentences: "He paints pictures every Wednesday." "They paint pictures every day." "He painted pictures last Wednesday." There's only one verb here: "paint." So how do we ask a question?
不過現在看看這些句子:He paints pictures every Wednesday.(他每星期三畫圖)。They paint pictures every day.(他們每天畫圖)。He painted pictures last Wednesday.(他上個星期三畫圖)。這裡只有一個動詞:paint(畫)。那我們要怎麼問問題呢?
Well, there's another way of saying these sentences, which is stronger, more emphatic. "He 'does' paint pictures every Wednesday." "They 'do' paint pictures every day." "He 'did' paint a picture last Wednesday." Now, "do," "does," and "did" change depending on the tense of the person, and "paint" doesn't change. And we can now ask a question: "Does he paint pictures every Wednesday?" "Do they paint pictures every day?" "Did he paint last Wednesday?"
嗯,這些句子有另一種說法,那會比較強烈、更強調些。He "does" paint pictures every Wednesday.(他「確實」每星期三畫圖)。 They "do" paint pictures every day.(他們「確實」每天畫圖)。He "did" paint a picture last Wednesday.(他「確實」上星期三畫了張圖)。現在,do、does 和 did 會依人的時態改變,但 paint(畫)不變。我們現在可以造問句:Does he paint pictures every Wednesday?(他每星期三畫圖嗎?) Do they paint pictures every day?(他們每天畫圖嗎?) Did he paint last Wednesday?(他上星期三有畫畫嗎?)
And here are all the auxiliary verbs we can use to ask questions. We can only ask questions using these verbs. And if there isn't one, we use "do," "does," or "did."
這裡就是所有我們能用來問問題的助動詞了。我們只能用這些動詞來問問題。如果句子裡沒有半個這些動詞,我們就用 do、does 或 did。
That's all for today! Hope you found it useful. Bye for now!
今天就上到這!希望你們覺得這有用。先再見囉!
- 「取決於、依...而定」- Depend On
Now, "do," "does," and "did" change depending on the tense of the person, and "paint" doesn't change.
現在,do、does 和 did 會依人的時態改變,但 paint(畫)不變。
